Smartpods birth came from its creators concept to find a solution to build on steep sites with cost saving in mind and a striking architectural design.

People are reluctant to purchase or build on steep sites due to the possible difficulties faced with design and the belief that it will be expensive. Smartpods offer a solution, the structural design of Smartpods with the use of steel and truss is engineered in such a way that a cantilever of up to 9 metres is generated allowing them to be built on sloping sites of up to 50°.

This cantilever and the ability to be built on sloping sites reduces excavation and associated retaining costs whilst maximising views. With the creation of a cantilever comes a floating effect, an extension of the residential environment. The pods are constructed in either 67 square meters or 47 square meter footprints allowing for a configuration to suit the chosen site.

While engineering is behind the structural concept of Smartpods, the intention behind the architecture was to create chic but minimalist living and this is reflected in the floor plan and specification options. The space created is layered with details from exposed trusses to full height double glazing forming what is the Smartpod signature.
