RE/MAX High County Realty has evolved from the simple philosophy of wanting to create an exceptional property experience for our clients.

We understand the distinctive, unique nature of investing in property and the uniqueness of our clientele. As such, we recognize that neither client nor property should fit into a single mould. We don’t, why should you?

Our vision is to provide each and every client with an extraordinary, tailored property investment experience that reflects their lifestyle, personality and needs.

Terry SpiceOriginally from the UK, Terry spent almost a decade travelling the globe working within the elite Super Yacht industry. Starting on deck, Terry worked his way through the ranks to a Captain’s license before continuing on terra firma to project manage several refits and yacht builds in both Europe and the USA.

His wife Jacqui, a native New Zealander, ultimately led him to settle in the Queenstown region. Of his first visit Terry says, “After spending so many years on yachts, I was just stunned by the beauty of the alpine landscape. Beyond the beauty, was the world class golf, wineries, and relaxed lifestyle. Right away I was enamoured with Queenstown.”

Once settled, Terry drew on his experience in luxury travel to consult on a small, luxury boutique hotel venture before becoming a founding director of Touch of Spice. As New Zealand’s leading luxury lifestyle group, Touch of Spice focuses on marketing and managing a portfolio of private villa accommodation, extensive personal concierge services and specialist event planning.

In project management, Terry thrived in the role of facilitator. Coupled with his impressive track record in the luxury market, it was a likely progression for Terry to move into Queenstown’s lifestyle property sector.

Gaining his property experience working with an internationally renowned luxury property brand, Terry perceived a synergy between the lifestyle property sector and Touch of Spice. “A number of suitable buyers were holidaying in Queenstown, and like the rest of us, would fall in love with the area. When they purchased property, I could provide an exceptional after-sales service through Touch of Spice. Owners could feel assured that not only their property was being looked after, so were they on return visits.”

Wanting to expand on this concept and offer a complete lifestyle package, Terry developed the premium side of RE/MAX Queenstown, known as ‘High Country Realty’ to cater to this niche lifestyle market. “It’s exciting to offer a service and have the freedom to assist clients in a way that gives each person a unique and personalised experience.”

Henare DewesAdventure and the outdoors, core fundamentals that Henare embraces, are what brought him to the Wakatipu Basin, and Queenstown, nearly a decade and a half ago. Over the years, he has explored the region to the fullest, incorporating his passions of trekking, skiing and fly fishing.

These passions, coupled with his love of people naturally led him into the profession of guiding. Learning from one of the world’s great masters, Dick Fraser of the Cedar Lodge near Makarora, Henare became a professional fishing guide nearly ten years ago. After several years of providing guiding services throughout the south of New Zealand, Henare ventured into his own guiding company, Dream Waters.

During the off season, Henare continues to utilise his specific knowledge of the region and backcountry experience by guiding the adventurous on heli-skiing excursions through the remote Southern Alps surrounding Queenstown.

Amongst his various outdoor endeavours, Henare found an increasing number of clients seeking advice and guidance on purchasing property in the region. He says, “With my geographical knowledge of the area, local eye on the market, and general knowledge of the industry, I knew I could add more value to my clients and could continue to assist them throughout their stay in the region.”

Since becoming a licensed consultant, Henare has facilitated a number of sales for his clients. Speaking of those experiences, he says, “It was about offering a distinct, unmatched service for those who enjoy Queenstown as much as I do.”

Henare enjoys creating and fostering relationships with his clients, whom ultimately become close friends. His clients appreciate his knowledge, understanding and intuition of where to find the best opportunity - whether fishing a pristine glacial river, heli-skiing the mighty Southern Alps, or the value of the landscape in terms of real estate.
